Recipe: Japanese Ginger Pork and Cabbage

It’s time to mix it up in the kitchen with this traditional Japanese dish, also known as “pork shogayaki” — a common lunch menu items in home-style Japanese restaurants. Easy, fast and full of flavor, this Japanese Ginger Pork bowl is perfect as a busy weekday meal. Serve with a side of rice to soak up all the excess sauce — yum!

Japanese Ginger Pork and Cabbage

Original # of Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • pork tenderloin – 3 ounce
  • cabbage – 2 ounce
  • red cabbage – 4 tablespoon
  • red bell pepper – 1/8
  • salad mix – 2 tablespoon
  • sesame seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • ginger – 1 teaspoon
  • low sodium soy sauce – 1 tablespoon
  • mirin – 1 tablespoon
  • extra virgin olive oil – 1 tablespoon

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, ginger, and sesame seeds.
  2. Heat olive oil on medium-high in a skillet. Add bite sized pork pieces and cook thoroughly. Add sauce to skillet, and toss to coat. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Add chopped cabbage, lettuce, and sliced bell pepper to bowl. Top with ginger pork.
  4. Serve.
