If you forgot to make a reservation this year, or just prefer spending a romantic night in your own home, this post is for you. I’m going to go through the many parts that make up the perfect Valentine’s Day meal. Since I did all the heavy lifting, you and your special someone can just get right to cooking.
Part 1: The Cheese Plate
A cheese plate for two is a perfect opportunity to pick one of your favorite cheeses, and one completely new one. Pair it with your favorite crackers and fig jam, and you’ll have the evening off to a great start.
Part 2: The Salad
In the winter months, no salad fills my heart like a beet and goat cheese salad. Add toasted almonds and balsamic glaze and you’ve got yourself a restaurant-quality starter. Alternatively, you can opt for a decadent pumpkin soup (like this one right here).
Part 3: The Entrée
The first decision you have to make is the protein. In my opinion, nothing says love like a juicy New York Strip. Then, you have to decide on the base. Do you want to pair it with a starch like mashed potatoes, or maybe greens like sautéed swiss chard? For the next side, cook your significant other’s favorite vegetable.
