No single food (especially a healthy one) has captured the world quite like avocados. From guacamole to avocado toast to avocado restaurants, they’ve stayed popular far longer than your average food trend. It was time for us to investigate why. After thorough research, taste-testing, and more taste testing, here are the four reasons we came up with.
1. Plenty of Healthy Fats
Ok, so you probably saw this one coming, but avocados are loaded with mono-unsaturated fat (the same fat that gives olive oil its healthy reputation). In addition to helping your heart, his type of fat can promote Vitamin E levels in your body. It also is the reason avocados are so filling.
2. They’re Versatile
Think of all the ways avocados are used — you can grill them, mash them, make them into ice cream, or eat them on their own. Adding a little salt, pepper, and fresh lemon juice to half an avocado makes a perfect snack. Tip: adding balsamic makes that snack even better.

4. They’re Stuffable
See that hole in the avocado when you take out the pit? It’s begging you to be filled with something delicious. Egg salad, crab meat, and chickpeas, are all great options to make a delicious party appetizer or a mid-day snack.
