Recipe: Blackened Quinoa Burgers

Blackened Quinoa Burgers

  • sesame seed bun – 1
  • quinoa – 2 tablespoon
  • bread crumbs – 1 1/2 teaspoon
  • onion – 1/8
  • egg – 1/2
  • cumin – 1/4 teaspoon
  • paprika – 1/4 teaspoon
  • garlic powder – 1/8 teaspoon
  • onion powder – 1/8 teaspoon
  • dried thyme – 1/8 teaspoon
  • salt – 1/8 teaspoon
  • black pepper – 1/4 teaspoon
  • extra virgin olive oil – 2/3 tablespoon
  • roma tomato – 1/4
  • cucumber – 1/8


  1. Cook quinoa according to instructions on package.
  2. While quinoa is cooking, mince onion.
  3. When quinoa is finished cooking, rinse thoroughly under cold water to cool down.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine quinoa, breadcrumbs, and egg. Mix together well.
  5. Form quinoa into patties, season with mix of spices on both sides, and place in an oiled pan over high heat.
  6. Cook on each side for 3 to 5 minutes, or until browned.
  7. While patties are cooking, lightly toast sesame seed bun.
  8. Arrange quinoa burger on toasted bun with sliced tomatoes and cucumber. Enjoy with your favorite condiment!
